Effective September 30, 2026. StepLocal extensions store user-created guides, snippets, settings and aggregate usage counts locally in the Chrome browser. StepLocal does not sell personal information, use advertising trackers or receive the content users create or type.
Website access is used only for the extension’s stated functions, such as detecting an editable field, inserting a chosen snippet or recording a user-requested workflow. Page titles and URLs used inside a snippet are processed locally and are not sent to StepLocal.
When a user chooses to activate or check StepLocal Snippets Pro, the extension sends the entered license key, checkout email and a device-instance label directly to Lemon Squeezy. Lemon Squeezy returns license status and purchase metadata so the extension can verify the purchase, prevent misuse and manage the three-device limit. Snippet contents, typed text and browsing history are not included.
Lemon Squeezy acts as merchant of record and separately processes checkout, payment, tax, fraud-prevention and transaction data under its own privacy terms. Removing the extension removes its local data unless Chrome retains it in a browser backup.
